Today jQuery 1.4 was realeased and a 14 day event (14 - 28 of Jan) tas begun in www.jquery.com to celebrate the coming of the new version. jQuery is by far the best javascript library, that managed to resurect Javascript.

Found some extra time in the weekend and finished jSnow version 1.2. I faced a lot of CSS problems and dilemmas but I think I managed to solve most of them. So what’s new in this version?

During the Christmas 2009 season, I will use jSnow 1.1 to decorate byteme.gr with a special type of snowflakes...space invader snowflakes! The code used is very simple and it consists of two parts A) PHP and B) the jSnow implementation. I am using PHP because I want it to (j)snow after 19:00 and until 8:00 in the morning (Greek is set to +2:00 GMT), not all day long :).

Now in version 1.1 jSnow is the way it was meant to be. With the latest version 1.1 of jSnow I've fixed more than 5 bugs (mainly wrong CSS declarations), added image support and improved animation speeds.

jSnow, is a jQuery plug-in that adds falling snow effect to your website (using javascript), a very common decorative effect that every website needs for Christmas! jSnow is lightweight (2.6kb), doesn't require any external files to run (css or images) and it's very easy to use! jFav, is a jQuery plug-in, that allows you in the most easiest way to add your website to the user's favourites/bookmarks. In jQuery all effects are applied simultaneously, to all elements selected by the query, with EffectChain you can apply all jQuery effects (1.2+) in a chain (sequence). ALL effects are supported: hide, show, fadeIn, fadeOut, fadeTo & animate! Moreover with EffectChain you can shuffle the order of the effect on the DOM elements (reverse or random), setup delays between the application of the effect to an element plus many more features, and all these with a minimal footprint!

A very useful plugin for re-creating the effect of a typewriter in any number of HTML text nodes. jTypeWriter can handle the type writing of more than one nodes, and type the characters in sequential order, with a minimal footprint (2.8kb)!
