I’ve been very busy lately developing for more projects that I can handle, so I’ve neglected my blog a little bit. Anywayz today I decided that I should use Kohana instead of Code Igniter for a major project. The Kohana/Code Igniter was a great dilemma, that was faced with another greater dilemma regarding the version of Kohana that I will be using. Should I use the stable one 2.3.4 or should 2.4 or even 3.0 that is not yet supported. I really don’t understand why they are developing both version 2.4 and 3.0 at the same time. Why don’t they stick to a certain plan and follow it to the end? I hope I won’t regret my decision of choosing Kohana over Code Igniter. So far the project score is 2 for Kohana and 6 for Code Igniter (in various projects over the past 2 years). Code Igniter is my first love, and due to my experience it was easier for me to migrate to Kohana (Kohana’s documentation is inferior of Code Igniter's). I believe if it wasn’t for Code Igniter, Kohana wouldn’t be so popular now, but that's a rather self-evident statement since Kohana is a fork Code Igniter (originally called Blue Flame)
So the final question is why did I choose Kohana...three major reasons: 1) it’s true Open Source, 2) strictly PHP 5 and 3) performs better in high traffic (I can't find the link but I know I read it somewhere).
